During Fringe 2019, a world premiere play, The Trophy Hunt, will be performed as a “rolling world premiere at Fringe festivals across Canada. Based on the ‘rolling world premiere’ concept used by the National New Play Network in the U.S., separate teams of professional artists will interpret and present the same text in different ways – some will be site-specific, some conventional, some even outside! Parker has waited his whole life for this trip. Jan follows this same path and makes this same trip every day, there is still some enjoyment in nature. Soraya wishes they’d all leave her alone on her beach vacation.
The Trophy Hunt is an exploration of who eats who in our canned hunt of a world where everything is observed, everything a zoo.

My whole life I’ve wanted to touch a lion. The fur is warm and the mane feels just like you think it does. You can feel the blood leaving, the heat leaving the body and you’ve accomplished something that nobody can ever take back. A lion.
Skinned him and took his head. No good if you don’t have proof.
Beat
Charlie. (beat) That’s his fucking name.
Fucking lion is named “Charlie”.

Linda is pleased that they have chosen to downsize and move into a more compressed urban lifestyle. That is, until the new neighbour moves in. John misses his stuff and his ride-on lawn mower. While Linda puts together her potential court case outlining the litany of annoyances the foreign neighbour has subjected her to, John tries to ignore the whole thing. He is finally drawn in when the neighbour approaches the door, leaving them a mysterious package.
 As we live physically closer but with greater individual and cultural differences, how can we find the space that we need to live together?

Kate has had enough. Ernie has brought enough auction junk home to fill a caboose in the west pasture. She throws his latest purchase at him and locks him out of the house.
As he figures out a way to get back inside to the waiting dinner, they both discover that they’ve been avoiding something for way too long. This celebrated short play tackles how we keep going when no-one and nothing has lived up to our expectations.
The Auction has won many awards when presented in One Act Festivals. It is also a scene in the full-length West of the Third Meridian. (See Full Length Plays)

Nusreta returns from a Bosnian concentration camp to find a stranger in her apartment. Once a Chief Judge, she now finds herself on the losing side of a religious war, but what has been taken hasn’t been forgotten. Based on real events.
The Apartment has had featured productions at Women in Plays III and the Vancouver International Fringe Festival in Vancouver, and Femfest at the CanWest Centre for Theatre and Film in Winnipeg. It has been performed along with presentations from Amnesty International.

Ruth wants to pack up the farm and move into the city. Maybe winters in Arizona. George wants a nap and to forget about it all. It’s too bad that they both might get what they want.
A touching short play that brings audiences to tears, this story is for anyone who ever hoped for something more.
