Romantic spy thriller proves to be compelling, heartbreaking theatre<\/strong><\/em> – PodSask<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

15 years after its World Premiere at Alberta Theatre Projects, The Romeo Initiative just keeps on connecting with audiences. I was fortunate enough to be in the audience on Opening Night at Persephone Theatre and to sit in the dark with a full house, experiencing the story along with the audience for the first time. Gasps! Laughter! One patron in the dark theatre exclaiming “I KNEW that would happen” just loud enough for others to hear, while another patron answered them loudly “WELL I DIDN’T!!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The director, cast and crew did a wonderful job. It is a testament to the vision of Heather Cant and Breanne Harmon at Persephone, the leadership of Director Jonathan Seinen, the actors and designers that the show set records for ticket sales in its seasonal spot! <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well received and well reviewed – a success for all involved!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was also invited to 1. Go to my Grade 9\/10 high school to speak with a great group of drama students, and 2. Participate in a separate reading and discussion at Persephone Theatre supported by PlayConnect program and the Canadian Council for the Arts. A really wonderful experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Romeo Initiative at Persephone Theatre<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Romeo Initiative will be produced at Persephone Theatre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in February 2026. This production opens almost exactly fifteen years (15!!) since the world premiere at ATP. Excited to share the story with Saskatoon audiences. Fun fact, I was born in Saskatoon and lived there until my mid-teens, starting my theatrics (so to speak) at Castle Theatre in Aden Bowman Collegiate before my family moved to Edmonton. I will be there for opening weekend, enjoying the experience with friends and family. Subscriptions and single tickets are available now at Persephone’s Box Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GRAND GHOSTS World Premiere<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

“An achievement that won’t soon be forgotten<\/em>“!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

GRAND GHOSTS ran at the gorgeous London Grand theatre from October 18th – November 5th. In its world premiere directed by Jillian Keiley it was a beautiful and entertaining production. Like many world premieres, it was a roller coaster experience getting it up on stage. Add in the last two years of pandemic, and that has made it all the more challenging. So very grateful to all of the artists, Grand employees and audience members who made this first BIG, NEW piece after the pandemic come alive. Also for the support of Grand AD Dennis Garnhum, and my friends and colleagues Ron Jenkins and Clinton Carew who provided support along this long journey. It was extremely well received. The London Free Press said “Grand Ghosts is an artistic achievement, one that should be shared with Canadian audiences well beyond the ghostly haunts of The Grand Theatre<\/strong><\/em>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
